Actor Oscar Polk (center) with Walter Kelly and Mary Philips on Broadway in the play, Both Your Houses, in 1934. Known primarily for his role as the servant “Pork” in Gone With The Wind, Polk had extensive stage credits including the Pulitzer Prize-winning  You Can’t Take It with You. In 1949, he was set to appear in the play, Leading Lady, when he was struck and killed by a taxi in Times Square in New York City. He was replaced in the play by Ossie Davis.
